The new Motorcycle Racing Documentary you need to see. Hitting the Apexposted by Fraser on September, 09, 2015 in Bike Wear Direct
Mark Neale, the man behind Faster and Fastest, returns with another motorcycle documentary, Hitting the Apex! Want to learn about what it means to truly chase speed in the world of MotoGP?
This film tells the story of the six men who have come closest to perfection in speed, diving into the fascinating lives of MotoGP’s best.
If you have a true love of bikes, or a passion for motorcycle racing, ‘Hitting the Apex’ will without a doubt be one of the best movies you’ll see this summer.
Telling the story of Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa, Marc Marquez, and Marco Simoncelli, is Brad Pitt. Pitt, who Neale says was instrumental in the film making of the film, acts as both producer and narrator. It is an extremely ambitious task telling the stories of these six, very different characters, spanning multiple decades, countless races and across continents.
The film focuses on the 2011, 2012 and 2013 seasons and how these six fighters fought for supremacy throughout. In order to properly portray these stories in the correct way means that the film has a lengthy running time. At 2 hours and 18 minutes ‘Hitting the Apex’ is likely to be the longest motorcycle movie you’ll have watched – but there is no way a fan of two wheeled racing will be able to switch off!
The inclusion of Simoncelli, who died tragically in a crash with Rossi and Colin Edwards at the Malaysian round of the Grand Prix in 2011, adds not only to the context of the film, but the gravitas it carries. As well as this emotional peak the film features many laughs and plenty of moments of comic relief – mainly coming from Rossi’s interviews and storylines!
In short, if you love MotoGP, then you’re in for a treat! And for those that maybe don’t follow the sport? Well, we think MotoGP may just have a few new fans after a viewing of ‘Hitting the Apex’….
Hitting the Apex has been in cinemas since September 2 and will be available on DVD and digital on September 7 – we know you’ll enjoy it!
